We have had these items for about a month now and I keep procrastinating at writing this blog.  The earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan got me moving!  We have kept emergency food in the house for quite a while but never a “grab and go” bag.  Now I am keeping one in the house and a small one in the car. You just never know.  And our items are reasonably enough priced that you won’t have a fortune sitting in your closet or car.  And your car is where it should be.   If you crash and can’t get out of the car that blanket in the trunk is not going to do you much good.

We have tested these items and they measure up to our high standards.  Not only did I try the food bars but actually ate them.  I admit that I was prepared to choke down a tiny bite and say “OK, I tried it.” but was surprised to find that they were palatable and had good flavor.  They come 6 to a box and I didn’t mind eating one a day for breakfast until they were gone. I definitely feel better knowing that if I am stuck in a dire situation I won’t have to gag something down just to stay alive.  Not as good as a Red Robin Cheeseburger but I’ve had much worse.  And had to pretend to enjoy it! (You know, those meals at Aunt Phoebes)

We have also revised our shipping options so now it’s easier to choose USPS, which can be more economical for small items.

Would you like to have two wind turbines but only have the room for one?  Now you can with the Cy-Clone X2 Dual.  In a nutshell, it’s 2 turbines on one pole.  You can find them, and a much better description than I’m giving here, on our web site.  Click on Complete Kits and scroll to the bottom.

What we have done is design a reverse blade system that mounts underneath our original mount.  It does not have a tail fin of its own; it uses the one on the top mount.  It mounts on the back side of the pole instead of the front and the blades are reverse pitched.  It looks pretty cool up there with the top blades spinning one direction and the bottom the other!

Granted, you don’t save a ton of money over buying 2 original Complete Kits.  although there is a savings.  The real savings are in the cost and installation of one pole  Now two turbines only take the footprint of one.  Or four of two, or eight of four…  You get the idea.

And don’t forget, our PMA’s and Kits qualify for the 30% tax credit.  I’ll have a blog about that soon

Occasionally we get asked “Why should I buy from you, what makes you better than the others?”.  That is the topic of today’s blog.  At first I thought it would be short and sweet, but after doing some research I discovered I was wrong.  I thought we had 1 or 2 unique things going for us, primarily stainless steel; turned out we have several. Here are some of the reasons we feel we stand out from the rest.

Let’s start out with our mounts.  They are made from 1″ steel tubing and are welded together for a solid one piece unit.  We then base coat and prime them with  high temperature ceramic paints so they’re ready for your paint with no prep.  Our exclusive Teflon washer allows for free spinning and long life.  Our tails are made from high quality aircraft grade aluminum and come with stainless steel hardware.

Of course our PMA’s are made from new parts.  We were the first in the industry to use the three phase ac output and offer a heavy duty external rectifier that everyone is now copying.  Imagine that. We clear coat them inside and out before assembly for maximum weather protection.  No need to stick a spray can through the holes and hope for the best.  We were the first to come out with a stainless steel shaft.  Ours are custom made with standard threads so there is no need hunt for a “GM” nut if you happen to lose yours.  The washers and nuts that come with our PMA’s are stainless also.  We use the highest  quality bearings.  They have an  extreme temperature grease that provides protection from -40F to 392F   (-40C to 200C).  The needle bearings have a load dissipating viscosity that protects against mechanical shock.  Which brings me to our TLG Blades.

The TLG CyClone blades are aircraft grade aluminum and we supply them with stainless steel hardware.  The hub is stainless steel, another WindBlue exclusive.  And we balance each set.  I thought this was a given until I found out that some companies are known to have unbalanced blades.  That is why we sell sets only.

If you purchase our Complete Kit you get another WindBlue exclusive: stainless steel spacer, washer and nylock nut.

We are an ‘in house’ company.  Our mounts are manufactured and our PMA’s assembled on site.  We do not farm anything out nor do we claim another’s products as our own.  We strive to buy American made.

Last but certainly not least is the WindBlue Warranty.  We offer a full refund within 90 days of purchase.  On ALL of our inventory, even electronics.  And we do not charge a restocking fee, as some do.  Our only restriction is that the parts are unaltered and the PMA has not been taken apart.   For example, if you cut the tabs off or drill out the mounting holes in a PMA, then decide you don’t want it, we have the right to refuse your refund.  But even if you  would do this and find the PMA to be defective we would honor the refund.  We are not looking for loopholes to deny you your money, just trying to be fair.

We get a lot of questions about our Complete Kit so I thought I’d talk about it today.

No, our Complete Kit isn’t really complete.  The reason for this is to ensure that you get a wind turbine fitted to your specific needs and not spend money needlessly on something you don’t need.

The first decision you will need to make, after choosing between the Breeze and Lite Breeze, is if you want the AC Kit.  Using this enables you use a smaller gauge wire from the turbine down the pole, saving money.  It works in this way: 

      You have 2 choices in how to bring the power down the pole.  The first is to use the post on the back of the PMA.  This provides 12v power and needs a heavy gauge wire (think of the battery cables on your car).  The second choice is to use the pigtail provided.  This is wild AC because it bypasses the rectifier built in the PMA.  The advantage of this is less power loss and less expensive wire because now you can use a good quality 12 ga.  extension cord.  This is NOT usable AC so you need to rectify it at the bottom of the pole.  The one in our AC Kit is a heavier duty one than the one in the PMA.  We do sell the smaller one but it for use in the PMA, not a substitute for the AC Kit.

Your second decision will be the charge controller.  The NC25 is less expensive than the Tri-Star but has limitations.  For example, if you want a solar/wind system you would want the Tri-Star.  You can find detailed information on both of these on our web site.

Next you need to consider a divert load.  These can be as varied as your imagination/need.  A common one is a water heater but maybe you don’t want hot water.  Whatever you want, as long as it takes care of any extra power.

There are other things you will need.  Some of them minor, such as fuses.  And of course batteries.  Obviously shipping them is not feasible.

So that is why the Complete Kit is not complete.  Hopefully this did not muddy the waters.  A little research at our site should answer any questions you still have,  If not, ask me here or at donna@windbluepower.com

Wind power is great, no doubt about it, but in my ideal world my property would have a beautiful stream that I could not only fish and swim in but tap into for hydro power.

MY world isn’t ideal. But for you lucky ones out there take advantage of that water!

 WindBlue’s PMA’s are well suited for this application.  Our cases are clear coated inside and out with a high temp, 500-degree ceramic paint.  The rotor fingers are new ( as are all of our parts) and painted blue with the same type of paint as the cases.  The shaft, washers and nut are also stainless.

I cannot tell you how many gpm’s you need or what your head height should be but www.waterwheelplace.com/electricity.html  sure can.  Plus he has beautiful wheels.  I would love to have one on my pond, even if it would be for decrative purposes only.  Below is a picture  our DC-520 generator on one of his wheels.
